Instruction/Teaching Experience

Teaching and instruction are my primary responsibilities at Rush University Medical Center. I enjoy supporting the students and faculty by teaching them the skills they need to be successful researchers. I have co-taught a graduate course in the College of Health Science. As well as co-teaching a faculty development course to physicians in pediatrics and internal medicine. I have taught instruction on a variety of topics including systematic reviews, open access publishing, searching biomedical literature and mobile apps, clinical nutrition, psychology, and the list goes on. I am continually challenged by the research produced at Rush University.

I have created LibGuides, YouTube tutorials, and other video tutorials to support researchers including distance learners.

Instruction beyond the classroom is very important to me. When I worked at Wright College I created video tutorials, online guides, and print guides to assist students with their research. I taught in the Library Technical Assistant program at Wright College which awards a Basic Certificate and Associates Degree.

Courses taught at Wilbur Wright College:

  • LIB TEC 101: Introduction to Library Procedures
  • LIB TEC 125: Learning Resources/Library Practicum
  • LIB TEC 201: Library Public Service
  • LIB TEC 203: Library Preparation and Materials

I incorporated the following in my bibliographic instruction:

  • Active learning strategies
  • Classroom assessment techniques
  • Technology via the internet and available computer software such as PowerPoint
